Hanford Reach National Monument Heritage & Visitor Center
At the confluence of the Columbia and Yakima Rivers, “The Reach” interprets powerful natural and cultural forces that have shaped the Columbia Plateau. The soaring 300-foot long Great Hall welcomes visitors with overhead energy bands introducing the region’s diverse characters. Visitors are awestruck in the panoramic White Bluffs Theater, where high-definition imagery sends flowing magma, Ice Age floods, Chinook salmon, and other stunning sites flowing their way. Immersive exhibits explore cataclysmic geological events, biological diversity on the shrub steppe, Hanford Engineer Works, site of the world’s first nuclear reactor, and ongoing clean-up efforts.
