Return to a Native
Place: Algonquian Peoples of the Chesapeake
Our latest design
work at the National Museum of the American Indian introduces
the Native Peoples of the Chesapeake Bay region –
what is now Washington D.C. and its surrounding area through
photographs, maps, ceremonial and everyday objects. This
handsomely displayed exhibit reveals the history and continued
presence of the Nanticoke, Powhatan, and Piscataway tribes.
