Working with Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, Hilferty designed a traveling exhibit to raise awareness about stormwater pollution. This display has been on loan to many community organizations across Ohio since February 2018 and is scheduled to continue to travel through this fall.
More than 25 million people, 10 percent of the U.S. population, live in the Ohio River Basin, and the Ohio River is a source of drinking water for over five million people. The river runs the risk of pollution from urban and rural community runoff, agricultural activities and abandoned mines. The exhibit shows individuals how they can make improvements in their own homes to help prevent additional pollution from stormwater run-off.
